    Towards the Future

The harder the path, the higher I want to climb. Because I know, if I give up now, I'll lose all the time spent climbing this far.

    My Friend's a Composer!

Music is an international language, it can be used to express feelings without using words. However, composing good music is as tough, if not, tougher than writing a good essay. The harmonious blend of multiple independent instruments with different sounds - you'll need both talent and skills to be able to pull this off.

Not long ago, I managed to chat with one of my old classmates. Her reply is kind of slow (we were chatting on Windows Live Messenger). So I asked her what she were occupied with. To my suprise and excitement, there is somebody among us that actually uses Cakewalk Pro, and that's her. For non-geeks or audio junkies, Cakewalk Pro is a music authoring software relying on MIDI (virtual) instruments.

Yesterday (more accurately, the day before yesterday), she sent me two of her works. Despite a bit rough around the edges, both of her works are really good! She really has potential and I really recommend her to further excel in this area. Her ambition - sound engineer (if my memory served me well).

The following (hopefully the uploading works) is one of her works - 合唱, posted here without permission (I'll get her permission as soon as she comes online :P). Splendid opening and equally great motive along with a nice blend of instruments. Kudos to Qiao Er!

    ROTFLMFAO!

A plain computer illeterate guy rings tech support to report that his computer is faulty.Z

    Tech: What's the problem?
User: There is smoke coming out of the power supply.
Tech: You'll need a new power supply.
User: No, I don't! I just need to change the startup files.
Tech: Sir, the power supply is faulty. You'll need to replace it.
User: No way! Someone told me that I just needed to change the startup and it will fix the problem! All I need is for you to tell me the command.

10 minutes later, the User is still adamant that he is right. The tech is frustrated and fed up.

Tech: Sorry, Sir. We don't normally tell our customers this, but there is an undocumented DOS command that will fix the problem.
    User: I knew it!
Tech: Just add the line LOAD NOSMOKE.COM at the end of the CONFIG.SYS. Let me know how it goes.

    10 minutes later.

User: It didn't work. The power supply is still smoking.
Tech: Well, what version of DOS are you using?
    User: MS-DOS 6.22.
Tech: That's your problem there. That version of DOS didn't come with NOSMOKE. Contact Microsoft and ask them for a patch that will give you the file. Let me know how it goes.

    1 hour later.

User: I need a new power supply.
Tech: How did you come to that conclusion?
User: Well, I rang Microsoft and told him about what you said, and he started asking questions about the make of power supply.
Tech: Then what did he say?
User: He told me that my power supply isn't compatible with NOSMOKE.

    I am a Mirror

Should thou be cold, then I shalt be cold; Should thou be warm, then I shalt be warm. Thou shalt see thy reflection, for I followeth the third law of Newton.

    Illusion

Ever think of one day we will came to realize that everything (alright, maybe not everything) we believe in is a lie - an illusion?

Today, my friend showed me a video on Benjamin Fulford discussing his claims that the Asian Tsunami, the recent earthquakes in China and the typhoon in Myanmar are neither coincidence nor natural disasters. They were all caused by a 3.6 MW (Mega Watts) microwave transmitter (HAARP) built by the US government. (Though I wonder why US won't use HAARP against Taliban in the first place. But that's out of my scope for today.)

What if - lie what Benjamin Fulford claimed, SARS was a biological weapon built to reduce the Asian population? Kind of odd. But anything is possible.

For instance Bodohwi's yoU-Must-Not-Object gang planned to save his ass by nullifying no-confidence votes of Line-Shit (Tip: Line = baris) members. Discipline? Yeah right, Captain "Mr. Clean".

(To think of it - The human (and evolution) history is not well documented. Who's able to tell me who first thought of rice can be de-husked, steamed and eaten? You man ancient humans just take anything and do some weird ass processing and 'voila!', food? Maybe we just take 'facts' for granted and never really think much about them. Since young, we've been taught: "Rice = Food, don't ask so much!")

The guy who invented trigonometry is pure genius.

    Friend?

Language is a double edged sword. It is a communication tool, as well as a barrier between truth and perception. In modern culture, where 'moral' or 'manners' comes into play, words spoken have always not reflect the true intentions of the speaker. What I think, manners is a tool to mask deception, to cover our lies.

Though people may argue by not talking straight to the point has the effect of preserving the pride or the receiver or the speaker. In my opinion, these are a false sense of security which will result in the misunderstandings and exploitations we see today.

Shifting to the main topic - the relatioship between humans - 'friends'. If we look into the basic instinct of every living organism, te most powerful instinct of living organisms is the will to survive. To survive, humans can't exactly live alone. For that purpose, there are friends. The question is - can we conclude that humans make friends with the primary purpose to survive? If we think again, pretty much everything humans do is for the sake of themselves.

There's a Chinese saying that goes "don't do things you don't want others to do the same to you". When you intepret it, you avoid conducting something considered as bad because you do not want other peope to do bad things to you, which is a form of selfishness. What if you know others won't do the same to you? Will you do it? If you don't, why? Is it because it affects your image? What if your image will not be stained by your actions, will you do it? If the tought process continues, it can be eventually concluded that everything humans do and don't do is because of selfishness. We help people because we want to be helped, we don't steal because we don't want our properties to be stolen, we love because we want to be loved, we don't break the law because we don't want to stay in prison, we don't want to burden or parents because they are our only source of reliance...

Then what is selflessness? It might be related to self glory, sense of achievement or just to satisfy one's empty heart. Or does it really look like as what the movies and fictions portrayed?

"I save you because I don't want you to die."

Well, let's ask some interesting questions:
    1. Why do you don't want me to die?
    2. If I die what do you feel?
    3. Why do you feel ______ when I die?
    4. If you don't feel ______ when I die, will you still save me?

I admit human emotions can never be analyzed this way. If you put me into a situation where someone is falling from the stairs, for example. My instincts will tell me to grab that person before he/she falls, without a reason. (Well, you can say that injure causes pain. I hate pain. I don't want to be injured. I avoid others from being injured as if I avoid myself from being injured, hence "compassion". But then again, the thought process is not there.)

What if the person I saved from falling will rob me, or slap me in the face, or swear at me, or kill me. Will I still save him? I have to admit I'm not those pure 'selfness' people we've seen in the movies, chances of me saving wil be low.

The 'selfishness' we learn in school is what I intepete as 'dumb'. 'Selfish' people are not selfish, they're dumb. Why? Being 'selfish' will let you enjoy short term benefits, but not long term, because everybody is selfish and not everybody is dumb enough to let others exploit. Example, hogging all candies by yourself will let you have loads of candies for the time being, but does not secure your future share of candies. Unless, of couse if you are in a 'selfish' society, then being 'selfish' does not consider yourself to be 'selfish' but selfish instead.

Can I conclude all oranisms survive till now because of selfishness? Beats me.

(Please excuse my crapping. The words came out straight from by brain without error correction or further thinking.)
(If you can somewhat understand, leave me a comment on how you feel or something.)
